Over 40% Carbon and many other micronutrients.  Carbon is plant food and essential for plant and microbe health.  
We skirt our fleeces but it is always a struggle to figure out what to do with these less-desirable bits.  
Shredded wool is a perfect soil mulch that still allows plants to grow.  It is less messy and easier to work around and incorporate into the soil than unshredded wool.
